Does Your Car's Air Conditioner Need a Tune-Up this Summer?

June 24, 2020

We're heading into Colorado's summer season. We'll see more drivers on the road and visitors coming in from out of town. The warmer weather and longer drives usually mean you will depend on your vehicle's air conditioning system more than during the colder seasons. You want to keep yourself cool and your passengers comfortable, so now is the perfect time to get your A/C tuned up at Colorado Springs' own LightHouse Automotive!

A/C System Repairs and Maintenance

No matter what kind of air conditioning services you need, LightHouse Automotive has you covered. If you need repairs, our team will inspect your A/C system and let you know what parts need to be replaced or refurbished. Thermostats can fail or refrigerant leaks can develop. There may be any number of reasons why your air conditioner doesn't work as well as it should. If you are not getting any cold air, then there is definitely a problem you want to have addressed by a professional mechanic.

Recommended Air Conditioner Maintenance

In most cases, only minor maintenance is required. We'll go through your entire air conditioning system and take care of all the little things to make sure it is working the way it should. These A/C tune-up services may include:

• Air conditioning system inspection

• Thermostat check and adjustment

• Air flow tests

• Replacing the cabin air filter

• Cleaning the vents

• Checking all control sensors, knobs, buttons and settings

• Recharging the A/C coolant/refrigerant (aka "Freon")

Heater/Defroster Maintenance

And even though you may not need your heater or defroster much during the summer season, we can also inspect and tune those components to make sure everything is working properly. That way, when fall and winter roll around, you will have peace of mind knowing that you are getting the most out of your entire heating and air conditioning system.

Signs of A/C Problems

There are several common signs that you may be overdue for a standard A/C system service or that there could be a more significant issue:

• Bad smells coming from A/C air (usually a sign of a dirty cabin air filter or vents)

• Low air flow

• Air not as cold or hot as it should be based on temperature settings

• Thermostat settings malfunctioning

• Loud fan noises or rattling when you turn on the A/C

• Window defrosters not working efficiently

If you notice any signs of air conditioner issues or you just want to make sure you are getting the best performance from your car's A/C system heading into the warm summer months, call LightHouse Automotive today at (719) 465-0302 or schedule your air conditioning service visit online.
